Virtual Option Explained

When a class is listed with a “virtual option,” it means participants would have a choice of attending the class in person* or virtually attending the class via Zoom meeting.

Many of us have grown weary or downright tired of all the Zoom meetings of the past year. Yet, the pandemic continues, and we wish to make many of our classes available to those not comfortable with coming into a classroom, even with the mask and social distancing protocols* in place.

We are working to make our “virtual option” a great experience through the use of what we are calling “enhanced” Zoom. A Zoom meeting will be used for each session, but the Zoom host computer will be connected to a multiple video camera audio-video system. In the classroom, live switching will be used so that whoever is speaking within the classroom will be clearly seen and heard. When remote participants speak, Zoom will switch views to them as normal. Although this is the first time we'll be using a video set-up like this, we are confident this “TV show-like” set up in the classroom will make the Zoom experience almost as good as being there in person.

*Those attending a class in person will be required to wear a mask until seated. Seating will support participants to sit a minimum of six feet from other participants, facilitators and guest speakers.
